The Atlanta community gathered today to honor the life of Kenneth Bailey, known professionally as Young Scooter, at a heartfelt funeral service held at St. Phillip AME Church. The service commenced at 1 p.m., drawing family, friends, and fans to pay their final respects to the influential rapper.
Young Scooter tragically passed away on March 28, 2025, his 39th birthday, following a severe leg injury sustained while attempting to evade police responding to a false 911 call. The injury led to significant blood loss, resulting in his untimely death.
During the funeral, attendees shared memories and celebrated Young Scooter's contributions to the music industry. Known for his collaborations with artists like Future and Gucci Mane, he was a prominent figure in the Southern hip-hop scene.
A public viewing was held earlier today from noon to 4 p.m. in Decatur, allowing fans to pay their respects.
Additional services are scheduled in South Carolina, including a public viewing on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Saints Center Ministries, followed by a celebration of life service on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the same location.
The music community continues to mourn the loss of Young Scooter, remembering him for his distinctive style and significant impact on hip-hop.
